Job summary

York Space Systems is seeking a Software Architect Senior who reports to the Software Architecture Team Lead. This role will drive requirements management, technical design, planning, and coordination across SWE to deliver software solutions for space missions.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented and excels at designing components and interfaces, and communicating complex designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Ability to articulate technical designs to diverse audiences.
• Experience presenting to leadership and customers.
• Proficient in UML use cases and diagrams.
• Knowledge of architecture principles: separation of concerns, loose coupling, cohesion, security, interoperability.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Eng or related field.
• 8–10 years as a software engineer.
• 3+ years leading software teams or as a PM.

Responsibilities

• Understand program objectives, milestones, and risks for SWE delivery.
• Coordinate SWE products with flight software and external partners.
• Identify and manage SWE-related risks.
• Serve as technical expert in customer meetings for SWE products.
• Oversee lifecycle design, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
• Perform requirements gap analysis and manage V&V.
• Create UML use cases and architectural diagrams.
• Collaborate on epic designs and oversee feature development and testing.
• Present software design and progress to stakeholders.
• Drive SWE delivery on milestones and demonstrations.
• Support mission operations with ground software and simulations.
