Job summary

York Space Systems seeks a Senior Director of Special Projects to lead high-impact initiatives that advance technical, operational, and business priorities in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

The role requires partnering with engineering, product, and leadership to deliver strategic outcomes, manage critical programs, and drive informed decision‑making across the enterprise. On‑site in Laurel, MD, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years leading complex, cross-functional projects or technical initiatives.
• Ability to connect technical concepts with business strategy and translate them into actionable plans.
• Proven success managing high-visibility projects requiring coordination across diverse teams and leadership.
• Strong strategic thinking and systems-level perspective for solving ambiguous problems.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and briefing skills for technical and senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage high-priority special projects aligned with company strategy and executive initiatives.
• Provide technical and program guidance to integrate engineering, product, operations, and business considerations.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Product, Capture & Proposal, Customer Engagement and Engineering to align objectives with capabilities and roadmaps.
• Gather insights on technical trends, customer needs, and market dynamics to inform strategy.
• Prepare and present project summaries and strategic options to senior leadership.
• Develop innovative technical solutions, prototypes, or program frameworks to support growth.
