Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for the PreStart Domain in Boston, MA. You will help onboard millions of new workers annually by building scalable, highly available systems that power onboarding experiences for a global workforce.

You will design and implement distributed services, lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and UX teams to deliver robust Day 1 onboarding across regions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build business critical, highly available, large scale, distributed systems
• Lead software architecture and design reviews and influence software architecture across our organization
• Design and build software with quality, robustness, and Amazon sized scale as top priorities
• Collaborate across technical teams, UX design teams, product and program teams, customers, and stakeholders
• Identify the right technologies to delight customers by working backwards from customer needs and testing prototypes
• Coach and mentor engineers on the team to foster a supportive culture of collaboration and delivery to high standards
• Get support and mentorship from senior engineers and leaders
• Define and drive SW best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, and testing
