Job summary

Arboreal Management in Seattle is seeking an exceptional software engineer to become the senior technical builder on a small, unusually ambitious internal team. You will take the CEO’s vision for Maynard and turn it into production software that impacts thousands of apartments and hundreds of properties.

You will own architecture for high-risk systems, design major components, and move quickly where appropriate while maintaining reliability, security, and auditability.

Qualifications

• Proven production systems experience and ownership.
• Strong opinions about software reliability and maintainability.
• Ability to span frontend, backend, infra, data, and AI in practice.

Responsibilities

• Design and build major parts of Maynard.
• Own architecture for technically difficult or high-risk systems.
• Turn rough product concepts and prototypes into reliable production software.
• Make pragmatic decisions about where to apply engineering rigor vs. speed.
• Establish standards around testing, deployment, observability, security and reliability.
• Review and improve existing systems as Maynard grows.
• Work with Product Engineer to handle feedback from ~200 internal users.
• Use AI development tools to increase engineering velocity.
• Continue writing a lot of code.
