Job summary

Edison Smart® is hiring a Senior Software Applications Engineer to drive internal manufacturing software from prototype to production, and to connect test stations, inspection equipment, and factory systems. You’ll collaborate with AI/ML, engineering, and operations teams to deliver data-driven tools and dashboards.

Remote role in the US, compensation up to $200,000, with ownership of data governance and deployment workflows as the company scales manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering.
• Proficient in Python and FastAPI backend development and API design.
• Proficient in TypeScript/React full-stack development and automated testing.
• Strong PostgreSQL schema design and SQL.
• Experience deploying self-hosted apps with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing, test, or quality data.

Responsibilities

• Take internal tools from prototype to production across backend, frontend, database, and deployment.
• Build ingest connectors for test stations, inspection equipment, and manufacturing systems.
• Design database schemas for test and manufacturing data to be queryable and trustworthy.
• Own results capture and data contracts for test systems.
• Collaborate with AI/ML, engineering, shop floor, and leadership to turn needs into tools and dashboards.
• Own data governance and user support, including roles, audits, and training.

A fast-growing defense technology building counter-drone systems is hiring a full-stack engineer to build its internal manufacturing software. Your first project is taking a manufacturing data platform from working prototype to production and connecting test stations, inspection equipment, and factory systems to it. After that, the role widens: as the company scales toward rate production, engineering, quality, and operations will all need tools that don’t exist yet, and you’ll build them.

• Design database schemas that keep test and manufacturing data queryable and trustworthy
