Job description

Mueon's Digital Design team develops the compute, memory, and interconnect technologies that power the next generation of AI computing platforms. The SoC Firmware Engineer works closely with architecture, RTL design, firmware, physical design, DFT, and post-silicon engineering to ensure that every subsystem functions correctly before first silicon. From IP integration through full-chip verification and silicon bring-up, the team develops scalable verification methodologies that enable reliable, high-performance SoCs and advanced chiplet-based systems.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior SoC Architect to define and evaluate next-generation SoC architectures and drive them from early performance modeling through detailed microarchitecture and implementation.

This is a hands-on architecture role spanning performance analysis, SoC IP selection, microarchitecture definition, hardware/software interfaces, and prototype enablement. You will work across abstraction levels - from architectural models and workload analysis through FPGA/emulation prototypes and ultimately silicon implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Define SoC architectures, subsystem microarchitecture, and key hardware/software interfaces
  • Develop performance models and analyze workloads to identify system bottlenecks and architectural opportunities
  • Evaluate and select SoC IP, including processors, memory, interconnect, and external interfaces
  • Drive architectural tradeoffs across performance, power, area, complexity, and implementation
  • Develop architecture and microarchitecture specifications and guide their transition into RTL and firmware
  • Support FPGA/emulation prototypes for architecture validation, software enablement, and performance correlation
  • Work across architecture, RTL, firmware, verification, and physical design through implementation and silicon bring-up
You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have
  • Deep experience architecting complex SoCs or major SoC subsystems
  • Strong quantitative performance modeling and system analysis skills
  • Experience working across hardware, firmware, software, and implementation boundaries
  • A track record of taking architectures from early exploration through prototype and silicon
  • Experience rapidly exploring and validating new architectural ideas using modern development and AI-assisted tools
Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in SoC architecture, microarchitecture, or system architecture
  • Strong experience with performance modeling, simulation, workload analysis, and SoC integration
  • Strong programming and modeling skills using C++, Python, SystemC, or similar environments
  • Demonstrated experience taking complex hardware from architecture through implementation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AI/ML workloads and modern AI computing systems
  • Experience with datacenter-scale systems, infrastructure, or large-scale compute platforms
  • Understanding of modern AI inference, training, and agentic workloads and their system-level characteristics
  • Experience with FPGA or hardware emulation platforms and hardware/firmware co-design
  • Experience using AI-assisted development, coding, modeling, or analysis tools to accelerate architecture and engineering workflows
  • Experience with SoC interconnects, memory systems, high-speed interfaces, advanced-node SoCs, or multi-die systems
