Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior SOC Analyst to join our CAEIO program supporting the Department of State. This remote role allows work from anywhere in the United States, with possible on-site meetings in the DMV area.

The role requires active SECRET clearance, DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, and 5+ years of cybersecurity/SOC experience in federal environments. You will monitor alerts, perform threat hunting, and write Splunk SPL queries.

Qualifications

• Degree with required experience as listed, or equivalent years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship and active SECRET clearance.
• Security+ CE or DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity, SOC, or systems security in federal environments.
• 3+ years with SIEM, preferably Splunk; dashboards and SPL use.
• Experience with Splunk dashboards and Microsoft Sentinel for monitoring.
• 4+ years querying security data, SPL, and regex concepts.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, ports, protocols and traffic flow.
• Familiarity with RMF and NIST standards (SP 800-53).

Responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate security alerts, perform threat hunting, and notify teams of incidents.
• Analyze network traffic to identify anomalies and threats.
• Create advanced ad hoc SPL queries.
• Coordinate with teams to investigate threats and conduct forensic analysis.
• Review logs from host, network, firewall, and IDS sources for threats.
• Utilize SIEM and EDR tools to monitor the environment.
• Develop configuration standards, policies, and procedures for security operations.
• Advise on technology risks and mitigation strategies.
• Engage with management and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare investigations and incident reports.
• Plan and execute SOC projects and initiatives.
• Mentor junior SOC members and document SOPs.
