Job summary

Empower is seeking a Sr. Cloud Database Administrator (Snowflake Platform) to design, implement, secure, and optimize an enterprise Snowflake on AWS. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, DevOps, and Security to deliver a scalable, secure data platform and automate deployments.

The role emphasizes platform administration, security governance, performance tuning, and operational excellence, with mentoring responsibilities for junior DBAs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years database administration experience
• 3+ years administering enterprise Snowflake environments
• Experience with Snowflake security (RBAC, masking policies)
• Experience with data warehousing concepts and cloud data platforms
• Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake deployments
• Experience with IaC using Terraform or similar tools
• Strong SQL and Python/Shell scripting
• Excellent troubleshooting and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Snowflake platform including databases, schemas, warehouses, roles, users
• Design scalable Snowflake architectures for analytics and AI/ML workloads
• Implement RBAC, row-level security, masking policies, and data governance standards
• Optimize warehouse sizing, performance, and cost efficiency
• Develop backup, disaster recovery, and cross-region replication strategies
• Automate Snowflake deployments with Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
• Maintain version-controlled SQL objects and security objects
• Monitor platform health and security events with observability tools
• Collaborate with Data Engineering on dbt, Airflow, and ELT pipelines
• Develop Python/SQL automation for admin tasks
