Job summary

JD Power is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and evolve our Snowflake data platform for analytics, product, and AI/ML workloads. You will translate architectural directions into a production-grade, automated Snowflake environment with strong security, RBAC, and CI/CD practices.

Key duties include managing Snowflake objects via Terraform, implementing data ingestion pipelines, and ensuring observability, cost control, and security compliance across AWS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data platform or data engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Snowflake production experience at scale.
• Strong SQL, able to optimize query profiles.
• Python for tooling and pipelines.
• Terraform IaC for Snowflake; Terraform Snowflake provider preferred.
• AWS cloud fluency: networking, IAM, storage, Snowflake integration points.

Responsibilities

• Own Snowflake account, warehouse, and object architecture.
• Operate CI/CD for Snowflake changes (Schemachange, Liquibase, dbt).
• Implement RBAC, security controls, and IdP integration for SSO/SCIM.
• Ingest and integrate with Snowpipe, Streams/Tasks, Kafka connectors.
• Build observability, cost monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Define SLOs and lead incident response for the platform.
