Job summary

Curaleaf seeks a Principal Data & Analytics Engineer to lead the data and analytics platform architecture and engineering efforts. This hands-on IC and leadership role shapes data products across ingestion, transformation, semantic delivery, and business consumption, partnering with analytics, data governance, and product teams.

You will define standards for SQL, Python, dbt, and CI/CD, while mentoring engineers and driving cross-team alignment to deliver scalable, trusted data capabilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Platforms, or related discipline.
• Senior technical lead or staff/architect experience with influence across teams.
• Strong hands-on Snowflake expertise including data architecture, performance, security, and cost optimization.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL; strong Python for data engineering, automation, or analytics workflows.
• Experience with dbt or comparable SQL-first transformation framework, including project architecture and deployment.
• Experience defining modern analytical data models (staging, conformed dimensions, facts, marts).
• Knowledge of ingestion, ELT, orchestration, data contracts, schema evolution, data quality, lineage, and production-support practices.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and environment management in data systems.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical alignment without formal people-management authority.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in relevant field

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve end-to-end architecture across source ingestion, Snowflake, dbt, Omni, Hex, and related data services.
• Translate business strategy into scalable technical roadmaps and platform capabilities.
• Set technology boundaries for ingestion, transformation, semantic, reporting, and analytics layers.
• Architect secure, scalable Snowflake environments supporting data products, BI, and data science.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analytics teams to optimize workloads and performance.
• Lead environment management, data access, workload isolation, and platform resilience initiatives.
• Define standards for SQL, Python, dbt, pipelines, data modeling, testing and deployment.
• Advance Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and engineering quality across data lifecycle.
• Partner with product owners and data stewards to design trusted data products.
• Lead root-cause analysis for incidents and drive durable improvements.
• Communicate architecture risks and investment needs to technical and executive audiences.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical alignment across teams.
