Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Data Architect with deep Snowflake, AWS, DBT, Python, and cloud data platform experience to lead data engineering and analytics initiatives in Life Sciences. You will design scalable architectures, build data pipelines, and ensure secure, high-quality data integration across systems.

The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural leadership to deliver modern cloud-native solutions that enable reporting, analytics, and business transformation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Cloud Data Platform development.
• Strong hands-on Snowflake data modeling, security, and admin capabilities.
• Extensive AWS experience: S3, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Redshift, and related cloud data architectures.
• Hands-on DBT for data transformation, modeling, testing, and deployment.
• Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL skills for data processing and automation.
• Experience designing ETL/ELT solutions and enterprise data integration frameworks.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and platform administration.
• Understanding of data governance, lineage, metadata management, and quality practices.
• CI/CD, Git versioning, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience in Life Sciences, Pharma, Healthcare, or regulated industries is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable cloud-native data architectures using Snowflake, AWS, DBT, and Python.
• Develop and maintain enterprise data pipelines for multi-source ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT frameworks to support analytics and reporting.
• Design and support Snowflake data warehouses, including schema design, clustering, and cost control.
• Leverage AWS services to support modern data platform architectures.
• Establish data quality, governance, lineage, and monitoring frameworks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Support data migration, modernization, and cloud transformation in Life Sciences domains.
• Monitor and optimize data workflows for reliability and performance.
• Maintain architecture docs, data flow diagrams, and security/compliance standards.
