Job summary

Homewood Mountain Resort is seeking a Lead Snow Cat Operator to join the Snow Surfaces Department on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. The Lead will groom slopes, coordinate nightly assignments, and communicate priorities to ensure the team delivers optimal surface quality for guests.

The role requires prior snowcat operation and supervisory experience, with a focus on safety, training, and operational excellence in a fast-paced resort environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, snowcats or tractors.
• Supervisory or team lead experience.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify equipment malfunctions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety guidelines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate snowcat grooming equipment to maintain surfaces across designated trails and terrain.
• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to snowcat operators.
• Assist with training and onboarding of snowcat operators.
• Promote safety and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of snowcats and equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify potential issues.
• Communicate with maintenance teams regarding repairs and service needs.
• Follow established grooming patterns and resort procedures.
• Understand and comply with company and safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
