Job summary

Altura, LLC is seeking an experienced energy/commissioning engineer to lead projects across new construction and existing buildings, including retro-commissioning and energy audits. The role emphasizes ownership, analytics, and leadership in a Smart Building landscape.

The candidate should manage multiple clients, perform field work, and drive energy improvements with minimal oversight, in Irvine or Oakland and potentially remote locations within the U.S.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in engineering field (mechanical preferred), including building energy engineering (MEP and controls) and project management.
• 5+ years of project management and client lead experience.
• Technical proposal and business development experience.
• Manage, mentor, and coach direct reports, driving a high-performance culture.
• Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills in energy and commissioning.
• Experience delivering complex, custom project scopes for commercial/healthcare/institutional clients.
• Experience linking energy/environmental indicators to business financial metrics.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Strong listening, communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple clients and projects, including interface with clients, team coordination, and budget management.
• Perform field work: site audits, testing, and development of energy measures.
• Oversee testing protocols to verify energy performance.
• Perform technical analysis to support energy savings verification.
• Leverage data analytics to support energy engineering and commissioning processes.
• Interface with industry through conferences, publications, and online communities.
• Lead or support full project delivery for new construction and existing buildings.
