Job summary

EVgo in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior, Siting & Permitting to independently manage permit activity across a portfolio of EV infrastructure projects, engaging AHJ contacts to resolve escalated issues and applying advanced jurisdictional knowledge to reduce approval timelines.

This role identifies patterns in permitting risk across projects and serves as a point of escalation for complex or unusual jurisdictional situations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's; or PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with AHJ processes, zoning, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Ability to manage a concurrent portfolio of permitting projects across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of AHJ requirements, zoning, and utility interconnection processes to anticipate jurisdictional issues before they arise.
  • Conduct thorough research and due diligence of jurisdictional requirements for both standard and complex projects.
  • Review permit drawings and construction documents for completeness and code alignment prior to submission.
  • Engage directly with AHJ contacts, design vendors, and municipal staff to resolve escalated or non-routine permitting issues.
  • Represent EVgo at public hearings, committee or council meetings, and other jurisdictional reviews.
  • Partner with the Policy team on permitting challenges involving elected officials or municipal leadership.
  • Identify emerging patterns in jurisdictional requirements and flag systemic risks to the broader team.
  • Maintain and improve permitting trackers and reporting tools used by the broader team.
  • Mentor Associates and Sr Associates on permitting procedures and jurisdictional research.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.

Position Summary

The Senior, Siting & Permitting independently manages permitting activity across a portfolio of concurrent EV charging infrastructure projects, engaging directly with AHJ contacts to resolve escalated issues and applying advanced knowledge of jurisdictional requirements to reduce approval timelines. Responsibilities
Permit Strategy & Submission
  • Independently manage permit applications and submittal strategy across a concurrent portfolio of projects.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of AHJ requirements, zoning, and utility interconnection processes to anticipate jurisdictional issues before they arise.

Jurisdictional & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Identify emerging patterns in jurisdictional requirements and flag systemic risks to the broader team.
Process & Team Support
  • Maintain and improve permitting trackers and reporting tools used by the broader team.
  • Mentor Associates and Sr Associates on permitting procedures and jurisdictional research.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a concurrent portfolio of permitting projects across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong working knowledge of AHJ processes, zoning, and utility interconnection requirements.
  • Occasional travel may be required for team or cross-functional meetings.
