Job summary

Abacus Builders and General Contractors in Boston seeks a senior field leader to independently drive complex residential projects from startup through closeout. This is a full-time, field-based role requiring calm, accountability, and organization on 2–3 active projects.

You will oversee ground-up multifamily work, historic brownstone renovations, subcontractor management, scheduling, inspections, safety, RFIs, punch lists, and closeout, maintaining open communication with ownership.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years in field leadership on residential projects.
• 10+ years on Boston-area construction projects.
• Ability to run 2–3 active Boston-area projects with minimal hand-holding.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations on 2–3 active Boston-area projects.
• Manage subcontractors, scheduling, inspections, and quality control.
• Maintain safety standards and document RFIs, punch lists, and closeouts.
• Communicate with project ownership.

Job description

This is a senior, field-first leadership role for someone who knows Boston construction and can independently drive complex residential projects from startup through closeout.

The right candidate will have deep experience with:

Ground-up multifamily construction in Boston

Small to mid-sized urban multifamily projects, generally up to roughly 15 units.

Historic brownstone and full-gut renovation work

Old buildings, tight access, structural surprises, high-end finishes, and the normal Boston construction circus — managed without the circus.

Daily field leadership and PM-level coordination

Subcontractor management, scheduling, inspections, quality control, safety, documentation, RFIs, punch lists, closeout, and ownership communication.

This is not an assistant superintendent role. We’re looking for someone senior, calm, accountable, organized, and capable of running 2–3 active Boston‑area projects with minimal hand‑holding.

Role: Full-time, field-based

Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 base + bonus opportunity + benefits

Preferred experience: 15–20+ years in field leadership, including 10+ years on Boston‑area construction projects
