Job summary

Trane Technologies in Grand Rapids seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Site Design Engineering organization, overseeing Design-to-Order and Sustaining Engineering. You will drive strategic technical leadership across HVAC product portfolios and coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet quality, cost, and schedule goals.

You will manage engineering leaders, influence product lifecycle processes, and champion continuous improvement while aligning with site and business objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, product development, HVAC, or similar environments.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience with direct people leadership responsibilities.
• Experience leading multiple engineering functions including design-to-order and sustaining engineering.
• Strong experience with product lifecycle processes including design release and change management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site design engineering leader for the Grand Rapids location, overseeing Design-to-Order and Sustaining Engineering.
• Lead and develop engineering managers, engineers, and technical staff to build a high-performing organization.
• Provide strategic leadership for custom/design-to-order engineering activities aligned with customer needs and business objectives.
• Oversee sustaining engineering activities including design changes, product improvements, and cost reductions.
• Establish engineering priorities, resource planning, and workload balancing across the site team.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and commercial teams to support product execution.
