Job summary

Trane Technologies in Grand Rapids is seeking a Product Lifecycle (Mechanical) Engineer to drive design efforts for commercial HVAC equipment. You will collaborate with Test Labs, Manufacturing, and Product Management to create competitive, compliant designs and lead root-cause analysis for quality issues.

The role requires a BA/BS in engineering and 5+ years guiding technical design, validation, and cost-reduction activities in a PDP environment. On-site work with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience leading technical aspects of product design projects and validation testing.
• Deliver technical designs and lead design reviews to meet project and product requirements.
• Experience with PDP/stage-gate processes and cost-focused engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop product designs to meet performance, regulatory, quality and cost requirements.
• Review and understand the technical feasibility of product and internal requirements.
• Lead VAVE activities to evaluate process improvements and cost reductions. Implement subsequent product design changes.
• Design and select robust and cost-effective components and develop engineering specifications.
• Complete system integration tasks including engineering design, engineering specifications, support creation of layouts and design reviews.
• Support engineering teams including engineers, designers, lab technicians
• Develop laboratory test plans and analyze test data to ensure product performance and quality.
• Create and manage BOM structures in a PLM system
