Job summary

Insitu is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Simulation Software Engineer to join its agile software team advancing UAV simulation and modelling. You design, implement, and optimize simulation components and collaborate across engineers to deliver high-fidelity aerospace simulations.

Ideal candidates bring strong MATLAB/Simulink experience, proficiency in C++/C#, and a solid math/physics background. Remote or on-site options are available in Washington with a hybrid preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
• 5–8 years' engineering experience with Bachelor's or 3–6 years with Master's.
• Experience in simulation development and MathWorks tools.
• Familiarity with aircraft simulations and safety-critical systems.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test simulation software using modern languages and practices.
• Develop modular simulation physics components including models for aerodynamics and actuators.
• Collaborate with system engineers, simulation developers, and airframe designers.
• Design, implement, and optimize simulations of physical, digital, or hybrid systems.
• Leverage AI tools to enhance fidelity and automate modeling processes.
• Work with domain experts to integrate simulations and AI features into workflows.
• Produce clear technical documentation and maintain code repositories.
• Stay current with advancements in simulation technologies and tools.
