Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly skilled engineer to design and utilize high-fidelity digital simulation software for DoD mission analysis. You will contribute to trade studies and evaluate system performance across diverse kill chain scenarios, leveraging AI/ML and HPC capabilities.

The role requires a STEM degree, expertise in MATLAB or Python, and experience with C/C++/Java, along with collaboration across teams to drive decision-support solutions. Onsite in Tucson with potential travel.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python.
• Experience in at least two of the following: Systems engineering life cycle.
• Software development and/or object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and/or Surrogate Modeling.
• Computation on high-performance computing (HPC).

Responsibilities

• Contribute knowledge of performance engineering practices to evaluate experiments and determine system improvements.
• Collaborate in a team environment, receiving input from the program, external customers, or team experts, and develop analytic approaches.
• Develop and implement model-based solutions to power decision support systems, and participate in validation and testing of models and software components.
• Occasional travel as needed to support the customer/program.

In the Operations and Mission Analysis Department you'll be part of a special team that analyzes the world's most challenging threats and helps define new capabilities to counter them, pushing the boundaries of innovation, and leading the industry in operational modeling and simulation using our purpose-built software.

As a team member in the Airborne Kill Chain AI/ML Section, you will join a high-performing team of engineers working with high-fidelity missile simulations to construct decision support systems used by the warfighter.

What You Will Do

• Support the design, development, and/or utilization of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments.
• Contribute to trade studies to assess system performance of weapons against a variety of threats in a variety of kill chain scenarios.
• Contribute your knowledge of performance engineering practices, and procedures, to evaluate work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems to answer questions such as: what should be the next system improvement; or what is the effectivity of the missile against a single or multiple threats; or what counter measures should be considered to increase effectivity and/or survivability and other operational performance related questions.
• Collaborate in a team environment, receiving input from the program, external customers, or team experts, and work on varied projects, as you determine, develop, and implement analytic approaches that will generate the supporting data to inform programmatic decisions.
• Participate in the development and implementation of model-based solutions to power decision support systems, and participate in validation and testing models, software components and/or integrated systems.
• Occasional travel as needed to support the customer/ Program.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of five years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python
• Experience in at least two of the following: Systems engineering life cycle
• Software development and/or object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and/or Surrogate Modeling
• Computation on high-performance computing (HPC)

Qualifications We Prefer

• Advanced Degree in one of the following majors: Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Active Top Secret DoD clearance.
• Experience in data analysis and statistics with large volumes of data.
• Experience with AFSIM or other Simulation Modeling development, and/or analysis.
• Experience conducting analyses and studies, including how to define and execute a study.
• Strong written and verbal communication with peers, management, IT support, and customers
