Job summary

Raytheon in Tucson is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of high-fidelity simulation software in advanced computing environments. You will contribute to trade studies and performance assessments of weapons systems, helping determine improvements and survivability in varied threat scenarios.

This onsite role requires a Masters in Engineering or STEM and scripting or programming skills (MATLAB, Python, C/C++).

This is an onsite Entry Level role in Tucson, AZ

What You Will Do:

As a Systems Engineer with Raytheon, you will support the design, development, and/or utilization of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments. You will contribute to trade studies to assess system performance of weapons against a variety of threats in a variety of kill chain scenarios. You will contribute your knowledge of performance engineering practices and procedures to evaluate work across a wide range of intriguing computational problems answering questions such as what should be the next system improvement; what is the effectiveness of the missile against a single or multiple threats; or what counter measures should be considered to increase effectiveness and/or survivability and other operational performance related questions. You will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop and implement analytic approaches that produce data to guide program decisions. You will participate in the development, implementation, validation and testing of model-based solutions to power real-time combat decision aids and associated software.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • 0+ years of experience with a Masters degree in Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Scripting (MATLAB, Python, etc.) and/or programming (C, C++, etc.) experience
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
  • Specific majors: Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering
  • Coursework, internship, projects or work experience in the following areas:
  • Simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering life-cycle model
  • Software development processes and object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java in either Unix or Linux computing environments.
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) or Surrogate Modeling
  • Computation on high-performance computing (HPC) grids/clusters, SLURM
  • Prior experience in or with military, or substantive domain knowledge of tools and tactics of warfare
  • Prior experience with classified material

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
