Job summary

RTX's Processing, Guidance & Control Center in Tucson, AZ invites you to join as a Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer II. You will create high fidelity simulations for missile design and flight test support, and work with cross-disciplinary teams to evaluate performance.

You will develop modeling solutions, document plans, verify requirements, and communicate results to leadership. The role is onsite, requires an active DoD Secret clearance, and offers a path to growth within the

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date.
  • Experience applying object-oriented software design in C++, C, and using MATLAB and Python for evaluation of data sets.
  • Experience developing or simulating physical systems.
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis for engineering solutions.

The Processing, Guidance & Control (PG&C) Center, within the Systems Engineering Directorate, consists of Signal Processing, Guidance, Navigation and Control as well as Modeling, Simulation Analysis (MSA) disciplines. PG&C delivers key technologies to our effector programs portfolio. The MSA teams are responsible for product‑level simulations that help us design, develop, verify, and validate our products and capabilities. Our simulations model the components and subsystems that make up our designs, and the world our products interact with. This is an Entry Level Role onsite in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

As a Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer II, you will create high fidelity simulations and models for missile design, performance assessment, and flight test support. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of modeling solutions and subsequently conduct trade studies and evaluation of system and subsystem performance. You will work in a team environment, receiving input from the team supervisors and providing guidance and/or direction to other team members. You will collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control, Signal Processing, and other performance personnel to perform simulation activities according to the program schedule. You will work on projects, determine, and develop approaches and solutions, and provide development guidance throughout the product lifecycle from initial concept to fielded product. You will provide technical expertise for the simulation products of a specific program and assist Senior Modeling Engineers in the preparation of detailed plans and may interact with government counterparts as an authority on simulation products. You will develop documentation, execute plans, analyze data, verify requirements, and effectively communicate results to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Master’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, (STEM) obtained by start date
  • Experience applying object-oriented software design in C++, C, and using MATLAB and Python for evaluation of data sets
  • Experience developing or simulating physical systems
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, or analysis for existing or proposed engineering solutions
  • Experience may be obtained through job experience, research, coursework or projects
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Leadership experience managing others using applied system engineering principles, experience working on a team and by yourself, interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines and developing and presenting technical briefings
  • Experience developing signal processing / GNC algorithms or models for missile applications
  • Experience with Control Hardware Design and Test, hardware/software integration, modeling physics and physical systems as related to flight dynamics
  • Experience using UNIX/Linux based workstations and using Software Configuration Management tools
  • Course work or experience in some of the following fields: radar, signal & image processing, radar and/or EO/IR environment models, digital communications, probability and statistics, linear algebra, estimation theory, optimal control, system architecture, inertial navigation, guidance theory

Relocation Eligibility

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. This position requires ability to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
