Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a senior staff engineer to lead wafer-level test and characterization of silicon photonic devices. You will drive methodologies for PIC test, including RF, optical alignment, and automated data processing, while collaborating with design, process integration, and foundry teams.

The role requires deep hands-on lab experience in photonics and strong scripting skills to develop robust test infrastructure and improve device performance and yield.

Qualifications

• Hands-on lab experience in photonics, semiconductor, or optoelectronic testing.
• Experience with wafer-testing stations and RF probing of devices.
• Strong understanding of silicon photonics devices and optical coupling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for wafer-level test & characterization methods for PICs.
• Develop and optimize wafer-level characterization for active/passive silicon photonic devices.
• Lead RF/high-speed electro-optical wafer characterization and signal-integrity analysis.
• Develop automated optical alignment and coupling at wafer level for accuracy and throughput.
• Create/test automation and data-analysis software (Python) for hardware control and data processing.
• Analyze characterization data and wafer maps to identify distributions and yield limiters.
• Collaborate with design, process integration, foundry, and packaging teams to correlate test with device physics.
• Guide cross-functional teams to resolve issues and support product ramp.
• Act as mentor to engineers and review test plans and methodologies.
