Job summary

Coherent Corp. is seeking a senior test and characterization engineer to lead wafer-level silicon photonics testing. You will optimize methods for modulators, detectors, waveguides, and PICs, and lead RF and electro-optical characterization with a focus on accuracy and throughput.

You will develop and maintain Python-based automation, analyze datasets and wafer maps, and collaborate across design, process, and manufacturing teams to improve device performance and test efficiency.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory experience in photonics, semiconductor, or optoelectronic device testing.
• Experience with automated test systems and Python-based control software.
• Strong RF/microwave measurement knowledge including calibration and de-embedding.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for silicon photonics wafer-level test and characterization methodologies.
• Develop and optimize wafer-level characterization methods for active and passive silicon photonic devices.
• Lead RF and high-speed electro-optical wafer characterization, including S-parameter measurements and impedance analysis.
• Develop automated optical alignment and coupling at wafer level for accuracy and throughput.
• Create test-automation and data-analysis software in Python for instrument control and data processing.
• Analyze wafer-level data and maps to identify yield limiters and artifacts.
• Collaborate with design, process, foundry, packaging, and reliability teams to correlate test results with device physics.
• Guide engineers through experimental design, measurement setup, and root-cause analysis.
