Job summary

Starkey is seeking a Sr Signal Processing Research Engineer I to join the Algorithms Group in Eden Prairie, MN. You will lead DSP research and machine learning efforts for ear-level devices and hearing aids, translating breakthroughs into commercial products with cross‑functional teams.

The role requires a Master’s degree in EE and 5+ years of relevant experience, strong Matlab/Python/C/C++ skills, and a track record in signal processing leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Senior Engineer I: a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience is required for candidates with a master’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Research digital signal processing algorithms for hearing aids.
• Propose the research project plan.
• Review the existing literature, competitive products, and patents.
• Propose a set of algorithm candidates.
• Prototype the algorithm candidates using simulation and/or research platforms.
• Evaluate the algorithm candidates based on laboratory and field evaluations and benchmarking.
• Select the final algorithm and generate the research report.
• Work with product development teams to bring research results to products.
• Transfer research results to products and provide input to firmware requirements.
• Provide technical leadership in various research and development activities.
• Demonstrate technical expertise in major signal processing algorithms.
• Serve as principal investigator for research projects.
• Provide technical consultation to junior engineers.
• Monitor and propose new R&D opportunities.
