Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Signal Integrity Application Engineer to lead high-speed backplane and interconnect design across telecom, datacom, networking, storage, servers, and AI/ML platforms. This is a full-time role with preference for Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX. Travel is about 20–30%.

You will own system-level SI strategy, develop simulations and specifications, and collaborate with customers, manufacturing, and engineering teams to deliver innovative connectivity solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years providing technical leadership for high-speed interconnect and signal integrity solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
• Hands-on experience with signal integrity modeling and simulation tools.
• Experience in connector, cable, interconnect, networking, data center, or OEM design environments.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and signal integrity strategy for high-speed cable backplane systems.
• Define system-level requirements to ensure signal integrity, channel performance, and scalability objectives are met.
• Develop technical specifications, simulation models, and proof-of-concept correlation studies.
• Serve as the primary signal integrity point of contact between manufacturing partners and OEM customers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex signal integrity and interconnect performance challenges.
• Lead system-level debug efforts and collaborate with manufacturing, test, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Develop strategies to enhance signal integrity performance and maintain competitive differentiation.
• Collaborate across multiple business units to support seamless product integration into customer systems.
