Job summary

Critical Start in Plano, TX is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer for our Managed Security Services team. You will design, implement, and improve deliverables for SIEM, EDR/XDR integrations, and security solutions for client environments.

You will configure data sources, create dashboards and alerts, conduct environment reviews and gap analyses, and serve as a technical escalation resource. Collaboration with clients and teammates is essential, as is continuous learning and certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• 5+ years in a cybersecurity engineering role.
• 3+ years with SIEM tools (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel).
• Experience handling security data sources, log formats, and ingestion methods.
• Proficiency creating SIEM content: alerts, reports, dashboards.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• 2+ years with next-gen antivirus or EDR solutions.
• Scripting capabilities in Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Configure data sources and log forwarders for SIEM environments.
• Create custom content: dashboards, workbooks, reports, alerts.
• Perform environment reviews and gap analyses for client environments.
• Serve as SME and escalation point for complex issues.
• Lead development of security content and playbooks.
• Collaborate with clients and teammates to mature SIEM/EDR programs.
• Document security processes and training materials.
• Stay updated on threats and obtain relevant certifications.
