Job summary

Critical Start seeks a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer to join our Managed Security Services team in Plano, TX.

You will design, implement, and improve deliverables for our MSS program, monitor and maintain multiple SIEM environments, and onboard supporting security technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, and Sumo Logic. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering, strong SIEM experience, EDR/XDR expertise, scripting skills, and excellent communication for client-facing work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/Cybersecurity/IT.
• 5+ years in a cybersecurity engineering role.
• 3+ years with SIEM tools (Splunk/Microsoft Sentinel).
• Experience creating SIEM content (alerts, reports, dashboards).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• 2+ years with EDR/EDR solutions.
• Scripting in Bash/PowerShell/Python.

Responsibilities

• Configure data sources and log forwarders; create dashboards, reports, alerts.
• Lead as SME and escalation point for client and internal issues.
• Provide guidance on SIEM/EDR integrations (Sentinel, Splunk, Sumo Logic).
• Collaborate on security solution development and best practices.
• Help mature clients' SIEM and endpoint security programs.
• Develop and maintain security playbooks and SOPs.
