Job summary

National Steel and Shipbuilding Co is seeking a Test Manager to lead testing and work certification across ship repair projects. The role emphasizes safety, schedule adherence, and cost control, with responsibility for coordinating policies and procedures related to testing.

You will mentor area managers, develop testing strategies, and collaborate with planning and subcontractors to meet objectives and improve processes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with good knowledge of trade responsibilities, ship systems, and shipbuilding practices.
• Seven (7) years of experience in a ship operations or repair environment in a position of responsibility; experience as New Construction/Repair Area Manager or Test & Trials Engineer preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; reports are a key deliverable.

Responsibilities

• Leads and directs testing and work certification activities and policies.
• Ensures safety goals and testing objectives are achieved.
• Mentors Area Managers assigned as Test Coordinators.
• Develops testing strategy, plans, and sequencing with Planning and Subcontractors.
• Provides feedback and lessons learned to Ship Management and Planning.
