Job summary

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking a Hot Cells Manager to provide leadership and oversight for SRNL's Shielded Cells Operations at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. You will ensure radiological safety, regulatory compliance, and mission-focused execution of remote handling, maintenance, and readiness of hot cell facilities.

The role requires ALARA strategies, operator training, and coordination with Radiation Protection, Nuclear Safety, Engineering, and Mission Programs to sustain

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• 10 years of relevant experience; nuclear facility operations or hot cell experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOE Orders, nuclear safety requirements, radiological controls, and Conduct of Operations.
• Ability to lead technical staff and manage complex operational facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of SRNL hot cell facilities, ensuring work is planned, authorized, and executed per DOE and SRNL requirements.
• Provide technical and operational direction to hot cell operators, technicians, and staff; maintain qualifications.
• Ensure compliance with DOE Orders, radiological protection, Work Planning & Control, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Oversee maintenance of manipulators, shield windows, cranes, remote tools, ventilation, monitoring devices.
• Coordinate with Radiation Protection, Nuclear Safety, Engineering, Maintenance, and Mission Programs for integrated execution.
• Develop and implement facility procedures, hazard analyses, ALARA strategies, and training requirements.
• Serve as primary contact for assessments, audits, readiness reviews, and external evaluations.
• Monitor performance metrics and long-term capability needs; support mission programs and safety culture.
