AstraZeneca is seeking a SHE Manager – Research and Animal Safety in Gaithersburg, MD. The role leads safety, health, environment, and animal research safety programs to protect people, animals, operations, and the environment while enabling compliant scientific work.

You will design and continuously improve lab and animal safety programs, partner across functions, and drive safety metrics, investigations, and change management in a complex R&D setting.

Formación

• Master's degree in a scientific field is required.
• 2+ years of biosafety, lab operations, or related SHE experience.
• Ability to lead risk assessments, investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety principles, regulatory requirements, and SHE documentation.
• Experience with electronic safety management systems (e.g., Enablon) and related reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to work onsite in laboratory and animal research environments.

Responsabilidades

• Lead risk assessments for new processes, equipment, and operational changes.
• Conduct inspections and self-audits across laboratories and animal care environments; ensure corrective actions are closed.
• Lead or support investigations for injuries, spills, and other SHE events; document and report findings.
• Use SHE data and trends to identify improvements and communicate strategic value.
• Foster a safety culture through leadership, engagement, and clear communications.
• Build partnerships with researchers, operations, and regulatory agencies to integrate SHE into daily work.
