Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking an experienced SHE Lead – Site Operations in Gaithersburg, MD to partner with facilities, engineering and leadership to drive safety culture across hard services, laboratory operations and construction activities. You will implement safety programs, oversee regulatory compliance and lead incident investigations to protect people and enable business continuity.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in occupational safety, with strong knowledge of OSHA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, safety, health, environmental or related field.
• 10+ years of occupational safety, health and environmental experience with contractor/construction exposure.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards, risk assessment and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead site operations and contractor/construction safety programs aligned with OSHA standards and company requirements.
• Serve as primary contact for OSHA-related regulatory agencies, inspections, audits and reporting.
• Conduct SHE audits, identify risk, ensure compliance and drive improvements at facilities and construction sites.
• Lead Serious Injury and Fatality investigations with strong root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Create and maintain contractor/construction safety programs, including permit to work and lockout/tagout.
• Design training, set KPIs and collaborate with contractors and cross-functional leaders.
