Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Senior Settlement Analyst to join the Energy Supply and Optimization team in the United States. The role focuses on analyzing financial data, reconciling MISO settlements, and preparing regulatory schedules and pro-forma calculations.

You will build data-driven insights using Excel pivots and Power BI, document processes, and collaborate across ES&O and Accounting. Strong communication and SOX awareness are essential for accurate cash settlements.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree in business discipline.
• 4-6 years experience in Finance, Accounting, Regulatory or related field.
• Knowledge of PC applications.
• Finance and accounting principles knowledge including the relationships between segments of the financial statements (e.g. balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow).
• Knowledge proficiency of MISO charge type, including the relationship between segments of the settlement statements (e.g. MISO markets, NIPSCO resources, NIPSCO load).
• Operation of third-party shadow settlement system to understand, report and verify charges and credits submitted by MISO.
• Analyze information from a variety of sources to detect trends, associations, cause-effect relationships and other anomalies and make recommendations. Effectively manages time to ensure deadlines are met and quality is achieved.
• Experience with Excel pivot tables, macro creation, and data analytics tools (Power BI).
• Presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with writing prompts for use in Copilot

Responsibilities

• Identify issues, problems, and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions; use professional judgement.
• Compile, organize and format data for internal and external reporting.
• Identify and research reporting issues, provide recommendations, assist with new reporting requirements.
• Support regulatory initiatives by gathering data and preparing regulatory schedules and/or pro-forma calculations, testimony and data requests.
• Understand MISO transmission and energy markets; reconcile shadow settlement system with financial statements; design test scripts for internal controls (SOX).
• Document work fully and accurately to ensure quality.
• Collaborate to improve processes for efficiency and effectiveness within ES&O and Accounting and Rates.
