Job summary

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Senior Services Coordinator to support the Kennedy Center’s Home Care program and coordinate community-based services for older adults, helping them maintain independence, health, and social connection.

Job description

Division: Community Services
Reports to: Director of Community Services
Status: Non-Exempt Hourly (up to 30 hours/week)
Compensation: $23.50 – $26.00/hour, commensurate with experience, plus a competitive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and other benefits.

Summary: The Senior Services Coordinator supports the Kennedy Center’s Home Care program and coordinates community-based services that support older adults in maintaining independence, health, and social connection. The Coordinator assists with daily operations, client support, senior activities, community outreach, and referrals to resources and services.

Working collaboratively with community partners, funding agencies, staff, and older adults, the Coordinator helps ensure the delivery of high-quality services, maintains accurate documentation and program requirements, and supports senior services through outreach, community engagement, and program activities.

The position requires excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. The Senior Services Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Director of Community Services, who provides guidance and evaluates performance through regular meetings, observations, and ongoing communication.

The position works up to 30 hours per week during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), with occasional weekend availability for community events.

Essential Job Functions
  • Support the JFK Home Care Program, including client intake, scheduling, service coordination, and documentation using the eCaring system
  • Coordinate communication with Home Care staff, clients, families, and service providers to ensure quality service delivery
  • Maintain accurate client records and assist with contract compliance, documentation, and reporting for funding sources and community partnerships
  • Provide information, referrals, and prompt, confidential customer service to older adults needing assistance
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate social-recreational activities and special events for seniors based on client input and community needs, in collaboration with the City of Boston’s Age Strong Commission, ABCD Boston, health care partners, and other agencies as needed
  • Develop and maintain outreach materials, including flyers, and a monthly activity calendar
  • Build and maintain relationships with older adults, caregivers, community partners, and service providers
  • Attend relevant meetings, training courses, and community events related to aging services
  • Assist with community engagement, agency projects/events, marketing materials, and grant reporting as assigned
  • Perform related duties as required
Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with older adults, home care services, senior programming, or community-based programs
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Computer proficiency, with the ability to learn the eCaring system (training provided; prior eCaring experience preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Occasional lifting/carrying required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of senior programming philosophies, principles, and practices, and of community/homecare services available to older adults
  • Ability to meet work schedules, learn quickly, and work independently
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent work experience
