Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Services Coordinator, the Cook will work in the main kitchen preparing daily noon meals for the Center and for home delivery. Responsibilities include ensuring adequate food and supplies, maintaining accurate records of kitchen needs, acting as a backup driver for meal delivery and senior transportation, and assisting with donation logging to ensure proper cash handling.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or GED; six months of experience in food handling, safety, and sanitation.
• Experience cooking low-fat, low-sodium meals; at least one year in quantity and quality food prep; preferred experience with seniors.
• Valid New Mexico Food Handler’s permit or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• CPR certification and first aid training required.
• Valid New Mexico Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six months; good driving history preferred.
• Cash handling experience preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

• Requires stooping, standing, walking, twisting, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work may be in office and kitchen environments; repetitive motions may be involved.
• Must have current TB certificate.
• Work schedule may include religious holidays.
• Utilize electronic ERP system as needed.

Essential Job Functions

• Interact courteously with others.
• Prepare meals according to menus and recipes, including baking and portioning.
• Serve meals in cafeteria and prepare home-delivered trays.
• Oversee cleanup and maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards.
• Record temperatures, ensure food safety, and manage inventory and food orders.
• Check-in food deliveries, rotate stock, and handle leftovers per health regulations.
• Operate vehicle safely for meal delivery and senior transport.
• Assist with paperwork, data entry, and cash handling procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
