Job summary

Macomb County Advocate (Part-time Senior Services) is seeking a compassionate professional to perform in-home assessments and assist with applications for public benefits. The role requires a degree or 60 college credits, plus one year in human services, and a valid Michigan driver's license.

It includes community visits, client referrals, and confidential documentation. Based in the Office of Senior Services, the position is onsite, Monday through Friday, with no remote work.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits in a related field
• One year of experience in Human Services
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and insured automobile

Responsibilities

• Identifies and assesses the needs of individuals and families for agency programs and services
• Performs intakes and assessments of all clients, including home bound individuals, to assess eligibility for services
• Schedules and conducts assessments with clients within established protocols
• Identifies health and nutritional risks and makes recommendations for interventions
• Assists clients in obtaining services including emergency or ongoing needs for food, shelter, or other basics
• Maintains accurate records and uses required computer software
• Provides services for clients in a specified geographic region
• Prepares and provides community education presentations on services
• Operates an automobile for assigned job functions

Education

Associate degree or 60 college credits in Gerontology, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field

Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
