Job summary

Macomb County Government is seeking an Advocate - (Part-time) Senior Services to perform intake assessments, conduct in-home visits, and connect clients with public benefits in the Office Of Senior Services.

The role requires an associate degree, one year in human services, and a valid Michigan driver’s license. Travel within the county is required; the position is onsite with no remote work.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 60 completed college credit hours in Gerontology, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
• 1 year of experience in the Human Services field.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and assesses needs of individuals and families for agency programs and services.
• Performs intakes and assessments of all clients, including home bound individuals, to assess eligibility for services.
• Schedules and conducts assessments with clients within established protocols.
• Identifies those individuals with health and nutritional risk and makes recommendations for appropriate interventions.
• Assists clients in obtaining necessary services including food, shelter, or other basic needs.
• Researches and maintains a list of available community services and makes referrals as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate records of all services provided and uses applicable computer software.
