Job summary

Avaloq is expanding its R&D Lab in Fort Lauderdale to build a SaaS, API-first, composable banking platform. You will partner with the Zurich team, shaping reliability across serverless and distributed systems, while enhancing observability and incident response.

The role emphasizes defining SLI/SLOs, improving CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and supporting on-call reliability as part of a global effort with regular travel to Switzerland.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or production operations for distributed cloud systems with hands-on AWS experience.
• Experience defining and working with SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Strong incident response background including on-call, triage, and post-mortems.
• Clear view on observability for distributed systems with rationale.
• Solid automation and scripting ability; language-agnostic (Rust/TypeScript/Python).

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets with product teams to drive reliability decisions.
• Design observability for a distributed serverless system (metrics, logs, traces).
• Build incident response practices: on-call model, escalation, blameless post-mortems.
• Develop reliability automation to detect and remediate issues before clients are affected.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (GitHub Actions) to reduce toil and risk.
