Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal seeks a Server & Storage Engineering leader to drive enterprise compute and storage modernization across mainframe, midrange, and x86 environments. You will lead assessments, retirement roadmaps, and rightsizing initiatives while shaping hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.

Ideal candidates have 8–12+ years of enterprise experience, deep storage and mainframe knowledge, and a track record of large-scale consolidations. Travel up to 80% may be required.

Qualifications

• 8-12+ years leading enterprise server and storage engineering with consulting or advisory delivery.
• Experience leading server consolidation or legacy platform migrations at enterprise scale.
• Deep understanding of mainframe economics and modernization trade-offs.
• Federal infrastructure experience preferred; regulated industries experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Lead server and storage assessments, inventory analysis, utilization profiling, and platform rationalization.
• Develop retirement roadmaps for legacy platforms with migration paths and risk mitigation.
• Analyze resource usage to identify rightsizing and consolidation opportunities.
• Design target-state compute/storage architectures balancing cost, performance, availability, and security.
• Assess workload placement across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud.
• Integrate findings into A&M's broader engagements and deliverables.
• Support practice development through internal training and thought leadership.
