Job summary

DataNet IT in Clayton, NC is seeking an experienced Server Engineer to support IT infrastructure within a Quality Control laboratory environment. This is an onsite role on a high-performing infrastructure team supporting critical laboratory systems and business applications.

The ideal candidate will manage Windows Server environments (2000–2022), Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualization, and vendor-coordinated applications, while ensuring reliable server, workstation, network connectivity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure/server engineering experience, preferably supporting laboratory equipment.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience building and managing virtual servers using VMware vCenter.
• Experience with ITSM/ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Ability to work independently and with a technical team in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on IT infrastructure support for laboratory operations.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
• Support Windows Server 2000 through Windows Server 2022, including legacy OS.
• Administer Active Directory: users, groups, permissions, and Group Policy.
• Build and configure virtual servers using VMware vCenter.
• Support Windows workstations (XP to Windows 11).
• Troubleshoot server, workstation, network, and connectivity issues.
• Use ServiceNow to document incidents and requests.
• Collaborate with lab users, vendors, and IT team members.
• Participate in infrastructure projects and deployments.
• Follow controlled procedures and documentation in QC environment.
