Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead and contribute to sediment remediation projects for federal and public-sector clients. You will guide technical strategy, coordinate with engineers and scientists, and ensure regulatory compliance on complex sites.

Ideal candidates will have a PE license, a civil/environmental/chemical engineering degree, and 7+ years of related experience, with willingness to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required.
• 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port settings with multiple stakeholders.
• Understand principles of sediment and contaminant transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design/construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on complex sediment sites and communicate technical strategy to clients.
• Leverage regulatory knowledge of CERCLA, GLBA and related processes at contaminated sediment sites.
• Act as a liaison with clients, the public and outside consultants, explaining technical evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical documents to meet regulatory standards.
