Job summary

Global AV Group in Hicksville, NY is seeking an experienced Security Systems Technician to install, program, commission, troubleshoot, and service access control, IP video surveillance, and intrusion alarm systems in commercial environments.

This field-based role spans Long Island and NYC with occasional travel; the right candidate will work with project teams, read drawings, and deliver reliable, tested systems while maintaining safety and professional customer service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional security system installation and programming experience.
• Hands-on experience with access control, IP cameras, and intrusion systems.
• Ability to program and commission security systems, not just install.
• Proficient IP networking knowledge (TCP/IP, static IP, DHCP, PoE).
• Ability to pass background checks and work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, configure, test, commission, and service access control systems
• Install and configure IP cameras and video management systems
• Install, program, and troubleshoot intrusion and burglar alarm systems
• Install and configure intercoms and related security devices
• Program access levels, schedules, users, credentials, alarm zones, recording rules, notifications, and system integrations
• Perform camera aiming, focus adjustment, image-quality verification, and recording tests
• Read and interpret drawings, floor plans, risers, wiring diagrams, scopes of work, and equipment schedules
• Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, programmers, electricians, locksmiths, IT personnel, and other trades
• Maintain accurate daily reports, programming records, test results, photographs, and as-built documentation
• Identify and communicate potential project issues before they impact schedule, performance, or system functionality
• Follow company installation standards, safety requirements, and customer site procedures
• Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, materials, and company vehicles
• Hands-on experience with systems testing and commissioning in enterprise environments
• Experience with enterprise-level security platforms is preferred
