Job summary

Amazon Leo is recruiting a senior software development engineer to serve as a founding engineer on the Engineering and R&D team within Leo Infrastructure and IP Security. You will own architecture decisions, build secure and scalable services, and drive automation for high-consequence environments.

As a founding member, you will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and partner with scientists to bring research into production, ensuring observability and reliability across terabyte-scale

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• 3+ years in a senior mentoring/leading role.
• Experience with performance optimization (memory, multi-threading, SIMD).
• Experience designing distributed systems with real-time streaming at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture decisions across the platform and provide system-wide design guidance.
• Design and build distributed systems for telemetry ingestion, real-time correlation, and agent execution.
• Drive automation and backtesting infrastructure to prove models are correct before production.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and set coding quality standards.
• Operate and ensure health, incident response, and reliability for security services.
