Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Senior or Staff engineer to lead and contribute across Security Operations, security engineering, and software tooling. You will provide leadership, mentor engineers, and drive incident response, threat detection, and security automation in a distributed, remote-first environment.

The role emphasizes open source security contributions, collaboration at industry events, and building scalable SOC capabilities within Canonical's security stack and platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash; strong scripting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and engineering leadership within the Security Operations Center.
• Design, develop, and evolve security software and platforms.
• Monitor for, identify, respond to, and remediate security incidents; drive threat mitigation.
• Mentor early-career Security Operations engineers and contribute to open source security.
