Job summary

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a security-focused engineering team across desktops, servers, edge devices, and cloud infrastructure. You will drive secure software development, mentor engineers, and collaborate with partners like CIS and DISA to meet FIPS 140 and related standards.

You will guide product security efforts, ensure disciplined processes, and help shape the next generation of secure Ubuntu deployments in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Academic excellence in high school and university
• Undergraduate CS or STEM degree or equivalent pathway
• Strong leadership and mentoring track record
• Excellent English communication, both written and spoken
• Proven ability to build and develop teams
• Proven experience with Agile development processes
• Experience with security standards (FIPS 140, CIS, STIG, FedRAMP, CRA)
• Familiarity with cryptography modules and security tooling (Compliance as Code)
• Comfortable traveling to company events up to twice per year

• Represent the team to stakeholders, partners and customers

• Collaborate on cryptography modules and system hardening with industry partners
