Ascend Learning is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to own IT security across programs, providing SME guidance on CrowdStrike platforms, detections, and workflows. This role emphasizes leadership and hands-on execution within a fast-paced environment.

The position supports remote work across the United States, partnering with cross-functional teams to maintain security controls, investigations, and incident response capabilities for a data-driven learning technology company.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, network security, and/or infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with CrowdStrike AI-driven features and behavioral detections in production environments.
• 5+ years of experience in CrowdStrike policy administration, IOAs, workflows, and scheduled searches.
• Experience supporting Security Operations and Incident Response teams.
• Experience in enterprise environments with diverse endpoint OS and configurations.
• Strong troubleshooting, time management, and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Tech Engineers, IT Compliance, and stakeholders to align security requirements with business goals.
• Act as the primary technical owner for CrowdStrike Falcon and related modules.
• Design and tune IOAs, detections, and automated responses to improve accuracy.
• Develop, document, and maintain security workflows and detection logic.
• Assist with deployment and operation of security tools as needed.
• Triages SOC alerts and incidents; participate in limited on-call rotation.
