Job summary

ECS is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our Arlington, VA (hybrid) office. The role emphasizes building, securing, and improving modern technology environments with hands-on security engineering experience across cloud, Linux, networking, automation, and application security.

Ideal candidates will design and implement security controls, write automation tooling, troubleshoot complex issues, and partner with engineering teams to create secure, resilient systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or another technical discipline, or an associate degree with equivalent years of relevant technical experience.
• 8+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience across security engineering, Unix/Linux, networks, cloud, app development, automation, and hardening.
• Strong scripting or development experience in Python, Go, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, or similar.
• Ability to translate security requirements into practical technical controls with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, implement, and maintain security solutions across cloud, application, infrastructure, and containerized environments.
• Identify vulnerabilities, attack paths, configuration weaknesses, and security gaps, and remediate them.
• Build security automation, tooling, scripts, and integrations using Python, Go, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Engineer security controls for Linux systems, networks, cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, apps, and supporting infra.
• Develop and improve security monitoring, logging, detection, and response capabilities across telemetry sources.
• Implement security into CI/CD pipelines and infra-as-code workflows.
• Partner with developers, DevOps, cloud engineers, and sysadmins to design secure, scalable solutions.
• Perform hands-on security testing, config reviews, and troubleshooting of complex systems and apps.
• Develop security tooling and integrations using APIs and automation frameworks.
