Job summary

The Michaels Companies, Inc. seeks a Sr Security Engineer in Irving, TX to drive complex security solutions across multiple tech stacks. You will partner with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to embed best-in-class security practices.

You will analyze security events, manage security tools, implement secure coding standards, and develop automated security processes within an agile SDLC. Strong communication and independent, proactive work style are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or STEM field
• 5+ years of experience in security engineering
• Experience with firewalls and IPS
• Secure coding in application development and DevOps
• Experience with AWS/GCP, containers, and serverless
• Experience with Agile and SDLC practices
• Experience with Java, Python, JavaScript
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex security issues (e.g., security events, threat models)
• Monitor, operate, configure, and remediate security tools
• Help implement security processes/standards (e.g., Michaels Secure Coding Standard)
• Develop hands-on Security Automation integrating with DevOps/DevSecOps tools
• Contribute to faster security functions and improvements
• Own security controls, tools and monitoring
• Collaborate with internal/external partners to meet business goals
• Execute systems strategies to support business goals
• Resolve cross-functional issues
