Job summary

StevenDouglas in Austin seeks a Senior SEC Accountant to join its growing accounting team. You will lead SEC reporting, technical accounting, and the monthly close process, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate disclosures and timely filings.

The ideal candidate has 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, public company/SEC exposure, CPA preferred, strong US GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Public company accounting and/or SEC reporting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
• Assist with quarterly and annual external reporting and ensure filings are accurate and completed timely.
• Prepare supporting schedules, disclosures, and documentation for SEC reporting requirements.
• Research and interpret US GAAP and SEC accounting guidance and assist with technical accounting matters.
• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement schedules.
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements and footnote disclosures.
• Work closely with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
• Assist with internal controls, including SOX compliance and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes as the company continues to scale.
• Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Finance, Operations, and other business teams.
