Job summary

Slate Auto in Troy, MI seeks a Senior Design Release Engineer for Seat Complete, responsible for the design, release, and integration of seating systems. You will ensure FMVSS compliance, manage APQP artifacts, and drive supplier collaborations to deliver robust seating solutions.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive seating, CATIA V5 proficiency, PLM experience, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced startup environment. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in automotive Seating System engineering.
• Experience in at least 3 areas: Seat JIT Integration; FMVSS/IIHS validation; seat foam and trim design; seat structure design.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of seat complete systems including integration of JIT components, foam, trim, structures, heat and vent.
• Impact occupant comfort by releasing seat complete with supporting hardware and software.
• APQP documentation including DFMEA, Engineering Specifications, DVP&R, Drawings, and Control Plans.
• Collaborate with Purchasing on sourcing seating components and conduct supplier technical reviews.
• Create, specify, and release seating components with Vehicle Integration teams to meet objectives.
• Ensure compatibility with interfacing systems and attaching hardware.
• Lead design reviews at milestones and act as primary liaison with suppliers.
• Engage with cross-functional teams (Accessories, Body, Restraints, Design, Manufacturing, Safety, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics) to deliver seating systems.
• Validate seating system through test loads, reports, and results.
