Job summary

Slate is seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer for Seat Complete to lead the design and release of seating systems for Slate vehicles in the United States. You will drive APQP processes, DFMEA, DVP&R, and FMVSS compliance while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to meet program milestones.

You will own performance targets, manage changes, and ensure accurate documentation across hardware and software to deliver safe, reliable seating solutions on time and within cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 8+ years in automotive Seating System engineering.
• Experience in at least 3 of the following: JIT integration, FMVSS validation, foam/trim design or seat structure design.
• CATIA V5 experience; PLM release and engineering changes.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FMVSS, NHTSA, CARB, EPA, etc.).
• Technical writing and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of seating systems including cost, weight, and function.
• Own design and release of Seat Complete including hardware and software support.
• Manage APQP documentation: DFMEA, Engineering Specifications, DVP&R, drawings, control plans.
• Collaborate with Purchasing on sourcing and cost reductions.
• Create, specify, and release seating components with Vehicle Integration teams.
• Ensure accessories are accommodated by Seat and Electrical systems.
• Lead design reviews at milestones.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to ensure performance.
• Validate seating system with tests and documentation.
• Coordinate with NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, and evaluation to meet targets.
